- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 1/4 cup cream cheese
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 3 large apples, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- For the glaze: 1 cup powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine flour and cold butter, cutting in until crumbly. Add cream cheese and water, mixing until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out dough into a rectangle.
- Mix sliced apples with brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Spread apple filling over the dough, leaving edges clear.
- Roll or fold the dough to enclose the filling, then shape into a ring or desired shape. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly.
- In a bowl, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze. Drizzle over warm kringle before serving.
Notes
- For a softer crust, brush with egg wash before baking.
- Can substitute apples with pears or your favorite seasonal fruit.
