Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 3/4 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup currant jam
Instructions
- Combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let it sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes.
- Cover the dough and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Punch down the dough and roll into a rectangle on a floured surface.
- Spread softened cream cheese over the dough, then dollop currant jam evenly across the surface.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side and slice into 12 equal pieces.
- Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for 30 minutes.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Optionally, brush with glaze before serving.
Notes
- Ensure yeast is fresh for proper rising.
- You can substitute currant jam with raspberry or strawberry jam.
- Serve warm with a dusting of powdered sugar if desired.
