A decadently chewy and crispy cookie featuring chocolate chips and toasted pecans, inspired by the famous Neiman Marcus cookie story.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown around edges.
  9. Allow to cool on wire racks before serving.

Notes

  • For extra chewiness, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
