  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in cold butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until dough comes together. Divide into two discs, wrap, and chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Peel and slice apples, toss with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  4. Roll out one dough disc on a floured surface and fit into a 9-inch pie pan. Fill with apple mixture.
  5. Roll out second disc and place over filling. Trim edges and crimp to seal. Cut slits on top for steam.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown. Cool before serving.
