- 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, roasted and minced
- 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Rub garlic cloves with a little oil, roast for 20 minutes, then peel and mince.
- Layer sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish, seasoning each layer with salt, pepper, and some roasted garlic.
- In a saucepan, melt butter, add heavy cream and minced garlic, simmer for 5 minutes.
- Pour the cream mixture evenly over the layered potatoes, then sprinkle with shredded cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes, then remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh thyme and serve hot.

- You can substitute Gruyere with cheddar or Swiss cheese for different flavors.
- Slice potatoes evenly for uniform cooking.
