A delightful recipe for homemade buttery crescent rolls filled with sweet pecan filling, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

  • Total Time: 2 hours
  • Yield: 12 rolls

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for filling)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a teaspoon of sugar. Let sit until frothy, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
  3. Gradually add flour, kneading until a soft dough forms. Cover and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare the pecan filling by mixing chopped pecans, brown sugar, and melted butter.
  5. Roll out the dough into a large circle. Spread the pecan filling evenly over the dough.
  6. Cut into wedges and roll each wedge into a crescent shape. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Serve warm, optionally drizzled with honey or icing.

Notes

  • You can substitute chopped walnuts or almonds for pecans.
  • Ensure the dough is adequately risen for fluffy rolls.
  • For a sweeter touch, add a glaze after baking.
