Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package of thinly sliced salami
  • 1 cup of fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or similar)
  • Black sesame seeds or olives (for pupils)
  • Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)
  • Olive oil (optional, for flavor)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients and prepare a clean workspace. Ensure your mozzarella balls are drained and ready to use.
  2. Take a slice of salami and carefully wrap it around each mozzarella ball, sealing the edges to form a round “eyeball.”
  3. Place a black sesame seed or tiny slice of olive in the center of each mozzarella to mimic the pupil of an eyeball. Use a tiny dab of olive oil or water to help it adhere if needed.
  4. Add small basil leaves around the assemblage or drizzle with a little olive oil to enhance the presentation and flavor.
  5. Arrange your eyeball appetizers on a platter lined with leafy greens or serve them as-is for a creepy display. They’re perfect paired with mini-pizzas or other Halloween party treats.

Notes

  • Assemble just before serving to keep the salami crispy and mozzarella fresh.
  • Use vegan cheese balls as a dairy-free alternative.
  • Substitute turkey or beef slices for salami for different flavors.
