Perfect for busy nights, the Speedy Skillet Beef features tender sliced beef, crisp vegetables, and savory sauce all cooked in one skillet for minimal cleanup and maximum flavor.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) thinly sliced beef sirloin or flank steak
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for extra flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and cornstarch. Mix well and marinate for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add remaining oil to the skillet. Toss in garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add bell peppers and broccoli, stir-frying for 3-4 minutes until tender yet crisp.
  4. Return cooked beef to the skillet. Toss everything together and cook for another minute to meld flavors. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Marinate the beef for at least 10 minutes for better flavor and tenderness.
  • Feel free to substitute vegetables based on preference or availability.
  • Ensure not to overcook vegetables to keep them crisp.
  • This dish reheats well; store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
