Ingredients
Scale
- 3 large crisp apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, or Gala work great)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Cooking spray or oil spray
Instructions
- Wash and core the apples, then cut into evenly sized strips approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
- Set up three bowls: one with flour, another with beaten eggs, and the third with panko bread crumbs mixed with cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
- Dredge each apple strip in flour, dip into beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with the cinnamon-sugar panko mixture. Press gently to ensure adhesion.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Arrange the coated apple strips in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Lightly spray with oil or cooking spray.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Remove from air fryer, drizzle with honey if desired, and serve hot with your favorite dip.
Notes
- Use firm, fresh apples to prevent mushiness.
- Uniform slices ensure even cooking and crispiness.
- Avoid overcrowding the air fryer; cook in batches if needed.
- Try seasonings like vanilla sugar or a dash of cayenne for extra flavor.
