Ingredients
Scale
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Fuji work well)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- 1 large egg
- A pinch of salt
- Cooking spray or light oil for brushing
Instructions
- Peel and core the apples, then cut into small bite-sized pieces. Toss with a little cinnamon and set aside.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry and stir until smooth. Gently fold in the apple pieces until coated.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Spray the basket with cooking spray or lightly brush with oil.
- Using a spoon or cookie scoop, form small fritters and place them evenly in the basket. Lightly spray the tops with oil.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and crispy. Remove and cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh, firm apples for best texture and flavor.
- Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if needed.
- Adjust cooking time based on fritter size for optimal crunchiness.
- Feel free to substitute gluten-free flour or almond flour for dietary preferences.
