Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 pack of pre-made pie crusts
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice in a bowl.
  3. Fit one pie crust into a pie dish and pour the apple filling inside.
  4. Cover with the second crust, trimming edges and crimping seams. Cut a few small slits on top.
  5. Brush crust with beaten egg.
  6. Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.

Notes

For a sweeter pie, add a tablespoon of honey to the filling. Allow to cool before slicing for clean cuts. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
