- 4 large apples, peeled and sliced
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 pack of pre-made pie crusts
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Mix sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice in a bowl.
- Fit one pie crust into a pie dish and pour the apple filling inside.
- Cover with the second crust, trimming edges and crimping seams. Cut a few small slits on top.
- Brush crust with beaten egg.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For a sweeter pie, add a tablespoon of honey to the filling. Allow to cool before slicing for clean cuts. Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
