Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package of buttery croissants (about 8-10 pieces)
- 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of whole milk or heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional: powdered sugar for dusting, fresh berries for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking dish and arrange the croissants in a single layer at the bottom. Scatter chocolate chips over the croissants.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk or heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the custard evenly over the croissants, pressing down gently to soak all pieces.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and set. Check with a toothpick for doneness.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Dust with powdered sugar or serve with fresh berries. Enjoy warm with your favorite coffee or tea.
Notes
- For an extra touch, sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top before baking.
- Make ahead: assemble the dish the night before and refrigerate; bake in the morning.
- Use gluten-free croissants for a gluten-free version.
