- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen Tater Tots
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking until fragrant and translucent. Add the ground beef or turkey, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and half of the shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until smooth. Optionally, stir in herbs like thyme or paprika for extra flavor.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the cooked meat mixture evenly in a greased baking dish. Pour the sauce over the meat layer, then sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top. Arrange the frozen Tater Tots in a single layer over the cheese layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the Tater Tots are golden brown and crispy. For extra crispiness, broil for 2-3 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
Notes
- Allow the casserole to cool before storing in an airtight container.
- Store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven until crispy and heated through.
