Scale
- 2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour or almond flour for gluten-free option
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Cooking spray or olive oil spray
Instructions
- Wash, peel, and cut the apples into evenly sized sticks about 1/4 inch thick. Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a shallow dish, mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Dip each apple stick into the beaten egg, then roll thoroughly in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the coated apple sticks in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space for air circulation.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- Serve immediately for the best texture, with optional dips or toppings.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
- Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes for added crispiness.
- For gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour.
- Add chopped nuts or powdered sugar for extra flavor and presentation.
